Photographie (2017). Misterios (2017) "Boltanski seeks an answer to the question of destiny. When he heard that certain indigenous peoples believe whales hold the key, he travelled to Bahía Bustamante, Patagonia, to see the whales along the coastline himself. With the help of acoustic engineers, Boltanski installed wind horns that emit sounds like those of whale song. In this remote place, these sound objects are doomed to disappear; only videoprojections of the project will remain." Les Regards (2011) "This major work, among his most striking, is composed of photographs of the anonymous dead from a TV program on the Holocaust. Boltanski has created many versions of this work, including in large format for display in certain cities. This version is composed of veils printed with the upper part of a face which utter in a breeze created by fans, illuminated by electric lamps. Viewers are intended to walk through these veils." —
