Retour à l’essentiel Courant né dans les années 1960 en réaction à la société de consommation, le minimalisme prône un retour à la fonctionnalité. Célèbre pour son « less is more» , l’architecte Mies van der Rohe en était un fervent défenseur, lui donnant ses lettres de noblesse. Aujourd’hui, ce courant fait son grand retour dans nos intérieurs citadins en mal de place. Désencombrés grâce à des rangements sur mesure et malins (Quadro, String Furniture), ceux-ci privilégient le mobilier épuré et élégant (Knoll, Fritz Hansen), les teintes claires et l’esprit pratique. Une tendance qui coïncide avec le centenaire du Bauhaus dont Mies van der Rohe faisait partie. On s’inspire des trois éléments-clés de ce courant artistique et de son école : une forme qui suit la fonction, de beaux matériaux et un design à vocation industrielle. Back to basics The Minimalist movement, born in the 1960s in reaction to consumer society, advocated the "less is more" return to function, embodied by the architect Mies van der Rohe. This current is now making a comeback in our urban homes with practical, customised smart storage (Quadro, String) and elegant furniture (Knoll, Fritz Hansen) in discreet colours. The trend coincides with the centenary of the Bauhaus, which was led by Van der Rohe, inspired by the movement’s three key elements: form following function, beautiful materials, and industrial design.
